Home, Home on the Web

We have new webspace!  Since WordPress is so clunky and hard to use Kat and I have decided to consolidate all our blogs into one.  The new space is thatdude1.blogspot.com which now has Ad support so that we can hopefully get some revenue from a hobby.  So feel free to click on any links you find off to the side.  Farewell and I’ll see you in the new space.

I Wonder

You know with all this talk I hear on the news about socializing heathcare and socializing the banks I decided to do a little research on it.  It seems the original ideas were to prevent anyone from being better than anyone else.  Not that bad of an idea if you ask me.  From what I read on Wikipedia it says that with capitalism wealth and power are shared by an elite few.  Definately true in America.  The country is still run by rich white people (for the most part) and the well educated (except for W who granted has an education but just doesn’t know how to use it) which leads me to wonder: They’ve already socialized the school systems (public schools) and what would happen if they socialized the colleges and university system.  Perhaps things would be more equal if everyone could go to college.  [On a side note I'm going to write the FCC about equalizing volumes on commercials.  We just had one for UFC and my ears are ringing now.  Anyone else wanna start a petition?]  I may be able to finally realize my dream of being a brain surgeon (Which according to my Psych teacher was the most satisfying job to the id, ego, and super ego which would put me in emotional bliss because not only would I feel good for helping people but I’d be satisfied in my sick twisted mind as being able to completely butcher someone as well as holding their life in my hands which is pretty cool.) which may or may not be the best job for me but if they did socialize the university system I would certainly go in to learn how to do something cool.  Okay I’d probably study anatomy and become a coroner or more likely take as many anatomy courses as possible and get good enough at it to teach an anatomy class myself.  Just wishful thinking.  I need to keep reminding myself that that will never happen.  The US’s stand on socialism is that it’s a bad thing so I guess no matter how much I think it’ll help.  Maybe I’ll write a letter to the president to suggest such a thing since he’s talking about socializing healthcare then maybe he’d be open to socializing the the education system completely.

Eight Days of Chaos

Things have been crazy the past eight days.  Last Monday (Februrary 23rd) I was in the girls closet trying to repair the leaks in the shower junction.  In order to heat the brass hot enough to solder it back together it broke the solder on one of the supply lines.  Yea.  Tuesday Chuck (my stepdad) came down and we bought the parts for to replace it.  Wednesday was a busy day.  We replaced the shower junction but before that I had a bad day.  At eleven in the morning my dad called saying he and Tracy (my stepmother.) were in town; good news right?  Wrong.  An hour and a half earlier my grandfather Jerry (my stepgrandfather or rather Tracy’s dad) had died.  I’ll admit that I was quite upset at the time but now that I think about it I’m just a little bit ticked that no one bothered to call me to tell me he was sick so I could be there too.  But anyway.  Thursday my dad spent a better portion of the day with me and we had lunch with Kat.  Not so bad.  Friday though was a pretty tough one.  We had the viewing Friday night.  Needless to say I was very depressed.  Saturday rolled around for the Funeral.  That was pretty bad.  Saturday night we put up three panels of our new fence which was good.  Yesterday (Sunday) we got snow which was a nice change except for the freezing cold part.  Then comes today when we get a whole new living room suite with our tax return money.  Don’t worry we still have pleanty of savings.  But that about sums it up.  Pretty chaotic week all the way around.  Hopefully now though I’ll be able to get some rest in a few days.  Oh also our DSL has been up and (mostly) down since Friday.  The tech guy arrived early this morning to fix it and it hasn’t gone down since (that I know of).

I Hate People

Why is it that people will never mind their  own business?  We’ve had to get rid of our ducks and chickens because some bonehead decided to call county on us and appearently you have to have three acres to keep a chicken even though we are zoned as residential/agricultural but it’s ok to have a goat and a pig.  Explain that one.  Clayton county was atleast straight forward and said no animals besides dogs and cats where as Henry county says you can have them but only under special circumstances like having three acres during a hail storm on Feburary Twenty Ninth.  I’d love to get a goat just to aggrivate the neighbors.  If I knew how to make bacon from a pig I’d get a pig.  The chickens were a food source so the county has essentially told me that I can’t grow and raise my own food which is the greatest insult you could ever fling towards a chef.  I’ve been very close to pressing the matter in court which I may still do to find out who’s doing it.  I’ll keep you posted.  In the mean time I have to go stoke the fire which incidentally our fire wood is also considered yard rubbish so if they press the matter I will take it to court saying they the county is denying us the right to keep our children in a warm house so they won’t die of frostbite because our house has no insulation at all so it stays very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer.  Wish me luck.  Oh also the fact that it could be my wife’s ex-husband has crossed my mind but forcing us to get rid of the pets that his daughter loves so much and which incidentally broke her heart would officaially constitute a bad father.  But I digress.  Au Revior.

Netflix Snafu

Pay close attention to the screenshot.  I looked up “My Bloody Valentine” on Netflix and came up with an intersting recommendation in the left hand pane.  Look under “Related Genres and Collections.”

Bad Cat

I’m about to kill my cat.  She broke my camera.  I set my camera on the table for a few moments while I got a glass of water.  The neck strap was hanging off the table and the cat started playing with it.  No problem.  Then she jumped out and grabbed it.  Big problem.  The camera hit flat on the ground.  Now the focus won’t work on it.  The focus rings don’t do anything at all for some reason and everything is left to autofocus.  Now that the autofocus is broken that means it takes very blurry pictures.  My six hundred dollar camera is no longer worth six dollars.  Anyone have a reason why I shouldn’t have cat chops for dinner?
