Strange Things are Afoot

Bizarre things are happening around the (insert family name here) household.  Earlier today I got home and started the dishwasher and everything was honky dory.  Well I do some massive rearranging in Jessy’s room (she’s gone now.  She went home Wednesday) and I go in the kitchen to get a drink of my red cream soda I left in there.  I stop dead in my tracks however when I start hearing music.  At first I thought it was my Ipod station playing but I quickly realized that A) it wasn’t plugged in and B) I had my Ipod on my hip.  I thought I was just imagining it so I stopped to listen to it.  I stood there listening for somewhere between ten and fifteen minutes.  I thought that maybe it was the dishwasher but the noises in the dishwasher were too inconsistent.  I heard something over the sound of the dishwasher.  To make matters more peculiar I moved 1.1 and 2.0’s beds to Jessy’s room and we put 2.0 down to sleep in it alone to try and get her in her own bed before the new baby arrives (December First is the due date but seeing as the last two have come three weeks early odds are good this one will too) so she’s up there asleep.  I moved the baby monitor in there to watch her (duh that’s a given) and all of a sudden Kat and I hear this strange noise coming from our receiver.  It sounded like a door opening.  I go upstairs to investigate and discover that nothing is out of the ordinary except for one small thing: there is a sound like a baby screaming in searing pain echoing though the two bedrooms and the bathroom.  I stand and listen to it for a moment and it persists and I gradually begin to loose my cool.  I grab 2.0 and return to our bed.  Still the sound permeates the air via the receiver.  I go back to investigate and realize that it is becoming louder.  I also notice that the cat is running back and forth though the house but is refusing to go into the bathroom (could be she’s traumatized because it’s used as a detention chamber for her) and the sound only grows stronger.  I poke my head out the front door and can hear nothing which leads me to believe that the sound is coming from within the house.   I freak out but only internally.  I return to the primary sleeping quarters (which until today housed four of the five members of this home [one of which is now at home across the Atlantic.])  We then hear the sound of dogs barking though the receiver.  I return to Ground Zero and it’s confirmed that there are indeed now dogs barking.  The crying continues.  Finally we shut the door and spend another twenty minutes or so pondering on what exactly it could be.  Kat suggested it may be a cat in heat trapped under the house or right outside the windows on the far side of the house which would explain why I hear it inside the house but not outside.  Sorry sweetie but I’m still not convinced.  I’ll keep posts running about more occurrences like this.

Just an Update

Kat’s still pregnant which is a good thing.  We heard the baby’s heartbeat yesterday which was very rapid but then again it’s supposed to be.  We’ve been stressing about it and to make matters worse we have a court date today and the attorney’s office has phones that are not working.  I don’t know if they packed up and closed down or what’s going on but it bothers me terribly.  The only thing we can do is hope everything’s alright.  Wish us luck.

My How Things Have Changed

Well things are certainly different.  My writing is coming along excellently and we’re expanding the family.  Yes that’s right: Kat’s pregnant.  So that’s always a good things.  On a more downward note Microsoft has reinforced my undying disgust and general disappointment for them.  I have a copy of Vista Ultimate 64 and have all the right hardware to make it a killer system.  There’s just one problem: Vista doesn’t support my SATA controller so I can’t upgrade to Vista and use my nice fat SATA Terrabyte harddrive.  Not to mention I noticed something else in installing it on another computer: Windows Vista is not compatable with Windows Software namely the Zune program.  Which is stupid.  If a company makes two products wouldn’t it make sense that those two should work together?  Oh well.  Hopefully Windows 7 will be better.  They started work on it rather early I guess because Vista was such a letdown.  I’ll try to get my hands on a copy.  Wish me luck.

Bad Week

Well let’s see.  Monday was ok I guess.  Tuesday wasn’t that great.  Well Monday was spent with me putting the new serpentine belt back on my engine because it slipped off again.  Tuesday it died though.  Not sure what happend but it started sounding and smoking like a tractor trailer and died completely about three hundred yards from the house.  A nice man named Franklin Cochran stopped and towed me to the house.  Wednesday we went car shopping and Kat got one in her name for ten grand.  That was with 1000 down so our savings account is depleated to just over 60 dollars.  Thursday we found out the insurance is going to be about 200 dollars a month.  Friday we took 2.0 to the hospital with bloody poopie.  The doctors said it was a food dye which we figured was spaghetti-o’s once the second diaper came out orange.  The first one being blood red still doesn’t convince me even after they checked for hemoglobin.  Today we went to the zoo and that’s the first time anything’s worked out this week.  So it must be getting better.  I’ll keep you posted so if things get better or worse you’ll know.

New Year’s Eve Post

Well New Year’s will probably suck.  I’ll have a headache at midnight and still have to tote heavy babies down stairs.  But it could still be worse.  I could be stuck in NYC at Time’s Square where’s about one or two degrees Fahrenheit.  Laundry’s not done all the way and there’s a fork in the sink and the bed’s not made up which means that I’ll spend the year trying to catch up on laundry, barely caught up on dishes, and crawling into twisted sheets as well as having copious amounts of cranial pain.  And I still get to hear my father at midnight saying Happy New Year and I get to call my step-sister and tell her happy birthday.  I think I’ll be sleeping in through 2009.  Wake me next December.

No I’m not Dead…Yet

Seeing as I left my last three posts starting with “Bad” then I probably should have continued the pattern.  Well things could be better lately.  If you kept up with my wife’s blog then you’d know that we had to cancel our trip to St. Augustine because we had to buy a new battery for the car.  We ended up at a trunk-or-treat for Halloween.  Thanksgiving came and went with nothing exciting to report.  Now we’re on the brink of Christmas.  Rui comes back home tonight from school in the mountains.  We have all our Christmas presents wrapped and under the tree.  The problem is that 1.1 won’t be with us on Christmas day so we’ll have to do Christmas on the day after.  Other than that there’s nothing much to report.  I have started taking a few herbs to try and help me de-stress and help me sleep and so forth and so on.  The only thing we have left to get is a gift for my step mother.  They’ll be coming up here a couple days after Christmas…well she and my stepsister will be anyway.  Unfortunately my dad has to work so the girls won’t be able to see him but it could be much worse.  And my word count has frozen at 199.  So now that it seems I’m crashing the new wordpress which looks like crap and is hard to navigate I guess I’ll wrap things up.

Bad Start to the Week

So far the week has been pretty bad.  Sunday I got a cold which I am still nursing.  Monday I broke the news to my mother about our vacation which started her condescension towards me and my family because she believes we should pay off all our bills first (but when you think about it bills come around every month and there’s no way that you can ever finish paying them because the house will always have bills like power and water until the day you die or sale the house which gives you a new house with the same bills but anyway I digress) and yesterday we had a full fledged fight about it and also on Monday I found out my dad was back in the hospital with chest pains.  He said yestereday the doctors think his stints are clogged which could have lead to another heart attack (but did not).  On the plus side though we have lots of money saved up in the bank so we don’t have to worry about our bills or anything such as that.  So hopefully it’ll all resolve itself before Friday when we leave for St. Augustine.  Wish me luck.

No I’m Not Dead

Well it’s been about six weeks since my last post and I’m sure many of you thought I had given up eather writing or living.  Nah.  I’ve just been busy.  1.1 is sick today so I’m nursing her back to health and figured I’d take a moment to regurgitate some of my life the past several weeks.  We’ve had our chickens and ducks (at least some of them) start laying eggs and we’re having lots of pound cake to celebrate (apparently this is the recipe she’s most fond of making with her new eggs) the first one being key lime and the second being plain.  We’re awaiting strawberries and whipped cream to make strawberry short cake.  In addition to new food stuffs we also had lightning strike and destroy several of our most beloved appliances including our cable modem, wireless router, stereo system and several others and all pretty major stuff including the two trees that are closest to our house.  Fortunately nothing has come down yet but that doesn’t mean it won’t.  Now it you’ll excuse me I’m going to kill my computer.  This few minute rant has taken me over twenty minutes to write because my computer keeps freezing up.  Windows Sucks!  Microsoft is an abomination that must be purged from the planet!

A Quick Update

I’m sure that some of you probably thought I was seized by the government for my last post but not yet. Things have been chaotic though. On the sixth we sent our exchange student Rui back home to China which totally sucked. We had her for ten months and still didn’t get to spend enough time with her. She’s doing fine in China though and my correspondence with Jes our next student I have discovered that she is mostly vegetarian. That’ll be interesting to say the least. It’ll probably put all of us on a better diet that’s for sure. 1.1 also had another wedding to be in as another flower girl which she pulled off perfectly. In between watching kids and taking care of the household tasks I’m trying to find time to write. I got a couple ideas from when we were at the wedding particularly about Butlers Bridge which is an interesting little road we went down on the way to and from the wedding. The night of the rehearsal dinner we took it home and noticed a path going down to the left that had a sign saying no through trucks so we assumed that was the way to the old bridge where they used to hang people. We went past it again twice and it’s not there anymore. Next weird place is the Seven Bridges in north Georgia. People say that when you drive your car down one way there’s seven bridges and when you drive back there’s only six. Interesting. I’ll let you know what comes up. If you have any weird occurances like that let me know. I’d love to hear about them. Be specific too because we travel as often as we can and who knows maybe one day we’ll be in your neck of the woods and stop by to see if it’s true. We go around Bryson City in North Carolina a lot and sometimes we go down towards Tampa and St. Petersburg in Florida. I’d love to hear about a few local myths and legends and who knows if I like it enough I may try to turn it into one of my many novels that I have yet to finish.

P.S.  In now reviewing this post I forgot to add one major detail.  After the wedding was over we drove up to the one remaining slave quarters on the plantation.  I walked in and stood still for a moment and then i realized something, there were foot steps on the floor above me.  Pretty strange occurrence especially considering that we were the last people on the property so I feel quite comfortable in saying it was a ghost.  Not to mention it gave me a real creepy feeling just walking in there.

Things Have Gotten Weird Again

Since my last post we have lost two of our cayuga ducks, lost another cousin a few bits of wit and some car keys.  To really help with things Kat’s getting yelled at at work and causing her to stress which is never a good thing with sunburn.  Yes all my girls are sunburned.  To top things off I get to spend the weekend building a chicken coup with a 138% chance of rain so that’ll be lots of fun.  In more weird news Rui our exchange student is going on her first date.  They grow up so fast don’t they.  Now if I can pull myself together this weekend I’ll be okay but so far I don’t have time to do anything useful.  Maybe we’ll see if after Rui’s track meet her new boyfriend can bring her home so we can focus on building everything.  We’ll see.
